The Law with regards to our qualifications

Foundation Food Hygiene

Although this is not required by the Law, the Law does state that ‘employers must train staff to enable them to keep food/drink safe’. The easiest way of doing this is by ensuring staff complete the course – Environmental Health Inspectors also prefer staff handling food/drink to have this qualification.

Foundation Health and Safety Risk Assessment

It is the Law to provide a safe and healthy working environment and if you have 5 or more employees - a policy on Health and Safety and complete regular and appropriate risk assessments.

NCL - Professional Barpersons Qualification

Most Justices will insist that a prospective licensee has this qualification and understands its requirements. Ensure staff don’t let you down and give them cost effective training.

First Aid
It is the Law that employers provide appropriate First Aid facilities and that employees know understand and know about these facilities. A guide is:-

• 1x Appointed person on duty at all times.
• 1x Qualified First Aider on duty for every 50+ employees.

These ratios will increase depending on the hazards and people at risk.
