Business Workshop

“Now is precisely the time to keep investing in the skills and talents of our people. It is the people we employ who will get us through. When markets are shrinking and order books falling, it is their commitment, productivity and ability to add value that will keep us competitive. Investing now in building new skills will put us in the strongest position as the economy recovers.”

Through a carefully tailored mix of open corporate facilitation and bespoke in-company coaching, Mere Hall Training offers a programme for leaders at all levels. This structured process provides stimulation and development through exposure to other cultures and industries whilst ensuring effective transferability and application of skills back to a specific workplace.

Bringing together leaders from diverse backgrounds and with contrasting experience will nurture and develop the leadership skills and confidence of newly promoted managers and give those with more experience the chance to re-evaluate, update and re-invigorate their skills.

A combination of 6 workshops covering a broad range of management and leadership issues supported by in house coaching, to ensure the skills discussed are successfully transferred to the workplace.

Detailed pre-course assessments ensure alignment of the company’s, line managers’ and participants’ expected benefits and outcomes and mutual accountability - including the facilitating coaches.

Spaced learning, weekly 3 hour sessions, off site at Mere Hall (commences 14th Jan 2010 for 6 consecutive weeks)

This programme deals with the key elements of Leadership and Management and applies them to the workplace to improve bottom line results.

Business Performance Workshops

Communication:

The essential starting point. Here we will look at the pitfalls involved in effective communication and how these can be addressed. More effective communication is the thread which runs through all of the sessions.

People Skills and Handling Mistakes:

Linking to motivation we have to ensure that we are able to use effective people skills, treat each person as an individual and handle things correctly when mistakes happen.

Motivation and Appraisal Skills:

Each person is an individual and has their own needs and wants. It is essential that we are able to recognise and use these to get the most out of ourselves and others.

Time Management & Prioritising:

Better use of time gives greater focus, better use of resources and a more professional approach.

Make meetings work for you:

meetings, formal and informal, are an everyday part of life and potentially a major time bandit. Develop the skills to ensure their effectiveness and the confidence to know which ones to attend and for how long.

Creativity:

Having the ability to look at everyday challenges in a new way and to change behaviour is a key skill. The session encourages new techniques and how to apply these.

Controlling Stress & Worry:

Putting pressure and deadlines into perspective and turning this into a positive motivational tool. Increased productivity, enthusiasm and commitment, reduced absenteeism and lethargy will lead to a more positive environment throughout.

Teambuilding:

Increased support for each other and sharing of best practice will flow from a more focused and cohesive team.

Coaching & mentoring:

What distinguishes coaching from mentoring? Identify and develop the skill sets to be an effective coach and mentor and start to transform the culture of your organisation.

Change:

Change can be uncomfortable, challenging and sometimes terrifying. This workshop considers how to sell the benefits of change effectively, how everyone can exert some control over the effects of change and thereby turn fear into opportunity. Embrace change, tackle the paradox of intellectual buy-in and emotional rejection and reap the benefits.

All these areas will be covered within the workshops:

  • Communication
  • Confidence
  • Dealing with change and controlling excessive stress
  • People skills
  • Planning & goal setting
  • Creativity
  • Delegation, Motivation & Team Working
  • Decision making & Prioritising

There are practical application projects throughout the programme and regular evaluation. Pre-course interviews, 360 degree analysis and in-house coaching are also included over the course of the programme.

The sessions will run each week in an environment conducive to learning and discussion.
